Monte Vista Unitarian Universalist Congregation (formerly the First Unitarian Society of Pomona Valley) has been a beacon of liberal religious life in the Pomona Valley since 1888. We are located just east of Los Angeles. We are a progressive community that encourages and supports individual spiritual quests while we work together for social justice.  We cherish the diversity of age, ability, belief, race, ethnicity, country of origin, language, economic status, education, political perspective, gender, sexual orientation or family structure.

We are Freethinker Friendly: we provide a welcoming community for people with atheist, agnostic, humanist , and other non-theistic world views.

We hope you will find a spiritual home with us.

MVUUC has a New Minister – the Rev. Pratima Dharm!

At the special Congregational Meeting after the Worship Service on June 24, the congregation voted 79-3 to call Rev. Pratima Dharm to be our full-time, settled minister.  She has accepted!

The congregation welcomed her return to the sanctuary for the announcement with a verse of “Come Sing a Song with US” followed by a chorus of “Happy Birthday”, since Sunday was Rev. Dharm’s birthday. Rev. Dharm then spoke briefly about her love and hopes for the congregation followed by a ritual of blessing.

Rev. Dharm will be starting her ministry at MVUUC on August 15, 2018.

The Parliament of the World's Religions

Last month in Salt Lake City, about 9,000 people gathered, reportedly representing over 200 religious traditions. This was only the sixth Parliament of the World's Religions. (The initial one took place in Chicago in 1893). Dozens of Unitarian Universalists attended, including three people from this congregation. We will share reflections and intriguing questions that emerged. Among other topics, Rev. Ann will talk about the presentation on "Healing Moral Injury in Returning Veterans and Families." Our "Share the Plate" offering will benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - Pomona Valley.
