Monte Vista Unitarian Universalist Congregation (formerly the First Unitarian Society of Pomona Valley) has been a beacon of liberal religious life in the Pomona Valley since 1888. We are located just east of Los Angeles.We are a progressive community that encourages and supports individual spiritual quests while we work together for social justice.  We cherish the diversity of age, ability, belief, race, ethnicity, country of origin, language, economic status, education, political perspective, gender, sexual orientation or family structure.

MVUUC has a New Minister – the Rev. Pratima Dharm!

At the special Congregational Meeting after the Worship Service on June 24, the congregation voted 79-3 to call Rev. Pratima Dharm to be our full-time, settled minister.  She has accepted!

The congregation welcomed her return to the sanctuary for the announcement with a verse of “Come Sing a Song with US” followed by a chorus of “Happy Birthday”, since Sunday was Rev. Dharm’s birthday. Rev. Dharm then spoke briefly about her love and hopes for the congregation followed by a ritual of blessing.

Rev. Dharm will be starting her ministry at MVUUC on August 15, 2018.

    The spiritual discipline of ‘fasting’ dates back to ancient times and is common to all religions of the world. Rev. Pratima Dharm will lead the service at Monte Vista on the 23rd of September and speak on the topic of fasting as necessary to centering us towards a greater wholeness.

    Rev. Pratima Dharm will lead the Bread Communion Service at Monte Vista on the 21st of October and speak on the importance of how bread can be an essential issue of justice with emphasis upon the UU-UNO promotion of the idea of ‘Advancing Just Migration for All this year. Members and friends are encouraged to bring to the service a loaf of bread to share with others during and after service and participate in the meaningful Bread sharing ritual during service!
