Thargelia Ritual (Modern Adaption of an Ancient Greek Festival)

    7:00 pmMVUUC Sanctuary

Please join our Circle of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPS) for a special ritual dedicated to Apollon and his sister, Artemis.  Kevin Seguin, a Greek reconstructionist, will be the presenter.  Kevin is interested in networking and fellowship with people of other Pagan, polytheistic, and esoteric paths and traditions.  We are excited to have him, once again, share his knowledge of ancient world religions.  Thargelia is a two-day festival in the Hellenic month of Thargelion (usually falling somewhere in May within our calendar) celebrating the height of spring.  It is named after a form of Ancient Greek sprouted grain bread called thargelos.  This simple group devotional ritual focuses mainly on expressing gratitude and respect to health, family, creativity, and ritual purification.  Print-outs of the ritual will be given to those attending with small phrases for those attending to recite, if they so choose to do so.  Both pronunciation and translation will be provided.  There will be feasting, discussion, and sharing of experiences relevant to the festival afterwards.  We embrace this ritual as an alternative to our usual Wheel of the Year focus.  Please bring a dish to share, as well as your MVUUC potluck bag, if you have one.  Liquid Moon CUUPs contact: Jeanne Coats at lillitha@me.com or (909) 860-5267.
