RED NOSE DAY CHALLENGE
Photo to be taken during Sunday Service
Our congregation has been officially challenged by the UU Church of the Desert in Rancho Mirage to see which congregation will wear more red noses on May 21st. This is in conjunction with the global fundraiser Red Nose Day (May 25th) which raises money for children who live in poverty, https://rednoseday.org. This charity is part of the Comic Relief Foundation. 50% of the money raised is used in the United States and 50% is used around the world. The organization provides grants to charities who demonstrate work toward ending child poverty. Some examples are: Children's Health Fund, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, National Urban League, and the National Council of La Raza.
Purchase your red noses at Walgreens for $1 (of which 50 cents pays for the nose and 50 cents goes to the charity). A limited supply will be available for purchase at church. Wear your noses to church on May 21st. A group picture will be taken and shared with the congregants of the UU Church of the Desert. This event is co-sponsored by the Religious Education Council and the Social Justice Coordinating Committee. For additional information see Lorraine Tant, Jeanine Little or Danita Astudillo.
